This is a great specimen
of PGM bearing silver ore. It was found near Quartzsite, Arizona
about 1995.
Quartzsite and Ehrenburg was part of what the old time prospectors
referred to as the platinum triangle. In the old days this particular
type of silver ore required a special technique when melting
it into bars.
For many years the early Spanish prospectors used to refer to
all silver-lead-platinum metal ores as hard silver.
