This turtle is large and clearly seen along the top of a ridge line. This type of turtle head warns the observer of danger in the direction which he is looking.

In this particular location the local Indians allowed the Spanish people to safely travel only north of the location of this turtle, and on a trail south of where another icon marker is located.

There was at least one Spaniard packing ore bullion through this area that was killed. The bullion was said to have been concealed by the Spaniard before his death, or by the Indians.
